Biography

Louise Hales is a classical soprano originally from Pembrokeshire, Wales, and currently based in Birmingham. Louise has been performing regularly for over twelve years, and has performed all around the UK in various engagements such as operas, oratorios, recitals and weddings. 

Louise is currently in her final year at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying for her Master's in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Amanda Roocroft. Before this she studied for her BA (Hons) in classical voice at Leeds Conservatoire, graduating with a first class honours.  ​​​

During her time at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC), she has had the opportunity of performing in various productions which include, Lisette in Puccini's La Rondine, Adele in Strauss's Die Fledermaus and chorus in Iolanta by Tchaikovsky, as part of RBC's opera scenes. Louise was also part of the chorus in Cendrillon by Massenet for RBC's spring opera 2024. For RBC’s summer opera, Louise has been cast as Columbine in Ethel Smyths Fete Galente, which will be performed in June 2025. ​​​​In addition, Louise has been involved in many performances throughout the conservatoire, most recently VoxBox French Series.

​Other notable roles performed and studied by Louise include Susanna from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Monica from Menotti’s The Medium. During her time at Leeds Conservatoire, Louise had the opportunity to perform as The Light Princess in their summer production of The Light Princess, where she performed music by composers such as Mozart and Strauss and as The March Hare in their production of Through the Rabbit Hole. In addition to this, Louise was chosen to represent the conservatoire in the Leeds International Concert season 2023 as a guest soloist and often performed in master classes within Opera North run by experts such as David Cowen.

Along side studying, Louise performs regularly for weddings and funerals, where she has performed a wide range of repertoire. Recently she performed the soprano part in Haydn's Nelson Mass with Malvern Festival Chorus. She has also had experience within musical theatre and straight plays, most notably Cinderella in Into The Woods by Stephen Sondheim, Cossette in Les Miserable, Jackie In Noel Cowards Hayfever and Cecily In The Importance of Being Ernest.
